HIMMS

Representatives for SPM at HIMSS Danny Sands and Sarah Krug  will speak about the participatory medicine movement and about the Society and how people can get involved, this will be in the Connected Patient and Patient Empowerment series.

Director of Development,

We have received two new resumes this week from individuals we will be interviewing.  We hope to have a decision soon.

Fundraising 

Looking into to constructing a benefits document for sponsors and other ways that we can interest corporate members to become actively involved, and realize member benefits, including: roundtable discussions, sponsorship of research projects, panels, direct collaboration between our members and hospital IT groups for the design and implementation of new IT programs.

Guidelines for listserv

We approved a set of guidelines. A link to the guidelines will be included in a letter to members from the President and will be put on our website.

RWJF Grant  

Nick is putting together a shell for outlining our initiative proposals for our next meeting, when we will begin to identify specific sponsors for each project.

Resources

A graduate student has approached us regarding an internship program with SPM, and her own contribution to set up an internship program and work with us as a project manager, potentially on the Seal program or to direct the timeline for our RWJF grant.  Danny and Nick will investigate

Membership,

Last week Amy Gleason shared a video of her daughter Morgan #iamapatient, which became viral, and inspired many of our members who also tweeted their comments and shared thoughts in social medial about patient engagement. We might tap into this enthusiasm with “I am a patient.” buttons for HIMSS.

Policy Positions

We discussed the opportunity for SPM to take a position on Blue Button Plus and Meaningful Use. Josh will contact our Public Policy Chairperson, David Harlow, and ask him to create draft position statements for presentation to the Executive Committee.
