Dave deBronkart had a conversation with journalist Steve Findley who is working on an article for Health Affairs on the value of patients having information about their treatment options and choices. Steve is seeking comments from members of SPM.

Nancy Finn outlined the Society’s involvement with the World Congress Patient Engagement and Experience Summit, September 17, 18 in Boston. Danny Sands is one of the featured speakers, discussing “Implement Mobile Engagement Initiatives to Improve Outcomes and Reduce Cost for Chronic Disease. There will also be a panel of SPM members addressing the topic: “Gain an Understanding of Patient Perspectives Surrounding Engagement and Experience in Health Care” The panel will include Peter Elias, Nancy Finn, Joyce Graff, and Leslie Levine, with Joseph Ternullo, moderating.  At this conference we will have buttons and a flyer available to hand out to attendees to publicize the Society.

Peggy Zuckerman is speaking at the annual conference of the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine, Sept. 27-29 in Washington, D.C.

Danny Sands recently spoke at MEDINFO, the International Informatics Congress in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Marketing/Promotion

Two member volunteers who are  public relations professionals have stepped up to develop a flyer and press releases  for the World Congress and Connected Health conferences that SPM members are participating in.  They are Mary Beth Schoening and Kelley Connors. Once the conference materials have been developed they will move on to develop other promotion materials.

Communication with Members

John Hoban is our new editor of the SPM newsletter.  He has put together a team of several members who will work with him to get out the newsletter out each month.  The first issue will be mailed on September 1.

Elections

Nick Dawson is going to issue an open call for members to run for member-at-large.  Elections will be in September.
