Here are the 4 that explicitly DO include patient access to health data &#8211; you can choose which to watch in depth and\/or wander on your own.\u00a0<em>Update: only one of these is at 11:15, so we&#8217;ll all go there. Then choose one for 11:45.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>11:15: <\/strong><strong>&#8220;Connecting Virtual Teams: Smart Care for Hep C&#8221;<\/strong> &#8211; a <a href=\"https:\/\/echo.unm.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Project Echo<\/a> demonstration, highly recommended by SPM member Matthew Holt (of Health 2.0 and HIMSS)<\/li>\n<li><strong>11:<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">45<\/span>\u00a0(not :15 as earlier posted)<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Opioid Addiction Care&#8221;:<\/strong> patient was actively engaged post incarceration and was included as part of team to integrate his medical records<\/li>\n<li><strong>11:45:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>&#8220;Nationwide care transitions&#8221; &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0after a hospitalization at home in Florida, a woman fractures her hip while in Colorado visiting her daughter &#8211; able to access records and coordinate care<\/li>\n<li><strong>11:45:&#8221;Collaborative Community Cancer Care&#8221;:\u00a0<\/strong>Active engagement by a breast cancer patient to verify her healthcare and other data (social determinants)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The tide is turning in our favor &#8211; let&#8217;s learn and contribute.<\/strong> Think about how we can urge the showcase NEXT year to include patient access in\u00a0<em>all\u00a0<\/em>the demonstrations.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Thanks to Vera Rulon and Jan Oldenburg for these suggestions!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Again, the hashtags for tweeting about this are #S4PM and #HIMSS18.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Original post:<\/p>\n<p>This is a quick first blog post to get the word out. This graphic, created by our member <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/JHoronjeff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@JenHoronjeff<\/a> of @SavvyCoop, says it all.\u00a0Spread the word, with the #HIMSS18 and #S4PM hashtags on social media! In short:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HIMSS (the enormous yearly health IT conference) is happening this week in Las Vegas. Over fifty members of our society are present.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.himssconference.org\/exhibition\/specialty-exhibit-areas\/himss-interoperability-showcase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interoperability showcase<\/a>\u00a0is a 30,000 square foot exhibit that shows data moving through various &#8220;use case&#8221; demonstrations.\n<ul>\n<li>Interoperability is the term for data &#8220;operating&#8221; well on different systems, which (to make a long story short) is not at all easy or possible.\u00a0 But that&#8217;s changing!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Within the showcase are\u00a017 demonstrations of data flowing from provider to provider in different scenarios, and\u00a0<em>sometimes\u00a0<\/em>including patient access in the process.\n<ul>\n<li>Here are\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.interoperabilityshowcase.org\/las-vegas\/2018\/use-case-catagories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">short descriptions<\/a>\u00a0of the demonstrations, or download their\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.interoperabilityshowcase.org\/sites\/interoperabilityshowcase\/files\/showcase_handout_print_final_2.21.18_web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">6.7 MB PDF.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Each has a 15-20 minute demonstration walking through the scenario, telling how the story unfolds and why the data is needed at a new doctor&#8217;s office, new lab, etc.\u00a0 Each demo starts at 15 after or 45 after.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>We will gather at 11 for brief remarks, then go to one of the demos (TBD) at 11:15 and another at 11:45.\u00a0 Or, some may choose to walk the circuit, looking at as many as you want.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We want SPM to be a visible presence, but more important, we want\u00a0to encourage everyone to be thinking about including the patient and family in\u00a0<em>all\u00a0<\/em>the demonstrations next year.<\/p>\n<p>More info later I hope.\u00a0 For now, spread the word, and if you&#8217;re at HIMSS, mark your calendar!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UPDATE FOR ATTENDEES: Try to arrive 10 minutes early &#8212;
