If you&#8217;re a member, have you considered leading a team? If you&#8217;re not, have you considered <a href=\"http:\/\/participatorymedicine.org\/join-us\">joining<\/a>? The message below was posted last weekend by co-founder and chairman Dr. Danny Sands, to the members-only Open Forum on our <a href=\"https:\/\/connect.participatorymedicine.org\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SPM Connect<\/a> community.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Like many associations, SPM has concentric circles of leadership (all volunteers) who work tirelessly to advance the Society and its mission.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The senior leadership comprises the chair, president, president-elect, past-president\/vice-chair, and the acting executive director.<\/li>\n<li>The executive committee adds the secretary, treasurer, and members-at-large (so all the other officers).<\/li>\n<li>Then there are additional board members that round out the board of directors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, although not part of the board, we have a number of committees that each have leaders (although some are in need of leadership right now).<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->You can see our current board\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/participatorymedicine.org\/about\/board-of-directors\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our committees\/initiatives and chairs are <a href=\"https:\/\/participatorymedicine.org\/about\/committees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<em>Admin note: originally this listed the initiatives, but it changes over time, so now we&#8217;re linking to the list on our site.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Committees in need of leadership:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Governance (includes updating our bylaws)<\/li>\n<li>Membership<\/li>\n<li>Nominations (the yearly cycle will start mid-2019)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We are currently seeking nominations for the positions of president-elect (which is a year as president-elect, a year as president, and a year as past-president\/vice-chair), treasurer (3-year term), and two members-at-large. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We are also looking for committee chairs and members, including for many that already\u00a0have leadership listed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The general responsibilities of officers are outlined in the bylaws, and more detailed expectations of all board members are listed in our board orientation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1QtS1f-mYwcnFs311bKPLnFnNRCXijh2elhRwkYJFJNA\/edit?usp=sharing\">document<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are interested in executive\/board positions<\/strong> then please reach out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current members, contact an officer per\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/connect.participatorymedicine.org\/communities\/community-home\/digestviewer\/viewthread?GroupId=13&amp;MessageKey=98d301c7-73ce-480f-963b-6b419cdbf2f1&amp;CommunityKey=5e367332-287d-4969-8cd8-358d4a572ea5&amp;tab=digestviewer&amp;ReturnUrl=%2fcommunities%2fcommunity-home%2fdigestviewer%3fCommunityKey%3d5e367332-287d-4969-8cd8-358d4a572ea5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this post<\/a> on SPM Connect<\/li>\n<li>To become a member (just $50\/year individual), <a href=\"http:\/\/participatorymedicine.org\/join-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">join here<\/a>.
