Here are some resources.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Society for Participatory Medicine&#8217;s COVID-19 Resources<\/h3>\n<p>Check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/participatorymedicine.org\/2020\/coronavirus\/\"><strong>resource page for COVID-19 information, support, and coping resources<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Peter Elias MD<\/h3>\n<p>On our SPM Connect member forum, life member &amp; former board member-at-large Peter Elias MD, a retired family physician, posted the answers he&#8217;s been giving friends &amp; family who ask his thoughts. I suggested the thoughts should have a broader audience, so he <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petereliasmd.com\/COVID19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posted them on his personal blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Peter&#8217;s always been the kind of doc who believes in teaching people whatever they have an appetite for. Here&#8217;s how it starts:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>The first question is: How bad will the coronavirus pandemic be in the US.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The short answer is, we don&#8217;t know &#8211; but it **could be** pretty nasty.<\/p>\n<p>An important point, though, is that we are not helpless here. This is not like predicting a weather event where we cannot control where the hurricane goes or how strong it is. Our individual and societal behaviors will have a big impact on what happens.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Additional thoughts and resources:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Seven million people have already viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howardluksmd.com\/sports-medicine\/covid-19-update-3-14-2020-concerned-physicians-unite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 Update: A Message From Concerned Physicians<\/a>, by Orthopedist Howard Luks (@HJLuks) with Bryan Vartabedian @Doctor_V and five other doctors. (The total includes 5 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevinmd.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/a-covid-19-coronavirus-update-from-concerned-physicians.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on KevinMD<\/a>, where it&#8217;s been re-shared two million times.)<\/li>\n<li>KevinMD has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevinmd.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/essential-clinician-commentary-on-covid-19-coronavirus-from-the-kevinmd-community.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a list of his broad range of other physician commentary<\/a>. If you want to convince skeptics that there really is a problem, that link alone is useful.<\/li>\n<li>The World Health Organization has a good <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/emergencies\/diseases\/novel-coronavirus-2019\/advice-for-public\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Advice For Public page<\/a>, including (lower down) some social media tiles (&#8220;memes&#8221;) worth sharing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;The cure for anxiety is knowledge and preparation.&#8221;
