You may submit as much detailed written testimony as you would like, and the Workgroup members will have reviewed this material in detail before the hearing.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">PowerPoints will not be needed<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pre-Presentation Questions\/Themes<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>The questions below represent areas the Workgroup intends to explore at the hearing.\u00a0 Please feel free to use them in preparing your oral and written testimony; the Workgroup recognizes that certain questions may not apply to all presenters.<\/p>\n<p>The Workgroup respectfully requests panelists to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">provide written testimony no later than <strong>April 15, 2011<\/strong><\/span><strong>.<\/strong> Please submit the testimony to Judy Sparrow at Judy.sparrow@hhs.gov<\/p>\n<p><strong>THEMES\/QUESTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Panel 1: Care Provider Perspective<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>How do clinicians generally view usability?      For disabled physicians, what are their specific needs\/issues in using EHR      systems?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What aspects of use\/workflow\/device      interaction\/data presentation are the most important regarding clinicians\u2019      EHR systems?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>How do providers define what are mission      critical usability issues, and what are ease-of-use usability issues? <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Panel 2: Consumer Perspective<\/span><strong> &lt;== This is where our input is requested<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>To what extent has usability of EHRs helped in      providing patients access to their health information and engaging      patients in their care? Particularly in: <\/em>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Getting an electronic copy of their health       information upon request<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Getting an electronic copy of discharge       instructions<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Getting a clinical summary<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Getting electronic access to their health       information<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Being provided educational resources specific       to their care\u00a0 needs<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em>To what extent is usability of health information technology, by care providers, an issue for health care consumers? Has it supported better interactions with the care providers?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Do consumers believe that health IT is safe? How does usability factor into that perception?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What aspects of health IT usability would consumers like to see improved?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Panel 3: Technology Developer Perspective<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>What is current industry practice in testing      for usability?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What is current industry perspective for      designing systems to ensure usability?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What are the biggest usability challenges      being experienced?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What voluntary steps can industry take to improve      usability? What does the industry see as the government\u2019s role?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Panel 4: Measuring &amp; Improving Usability<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>What is the state of art of measuring      usability?
