He mentioned that SPM pins that we have passed out at several shows were in huge demand.

Danny and Peggy talked about an alliance between the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine and SPM.  Peggy will pursue and report back.

We also discussed our alliance with Medicine X and how we can reignite that partnership.  Dave will talk with Larry Chu.

Initiatives on Patient Centered Care

Danny reported that he is exploring opportunities with ONC grantees.

The Executive Committee discussed the importance of insuring that the terms empowered patients and patient centered do not become diluted. Dave referenced an article written by SPM member Michael Millenson and Robert A. Berenson of the Urban Institute, Making Patient Centered Care Real http://www.urban.org/sites/default/files/alfresco/publication-pdfs/2015.10.12_Millenson_Berenson.pdf

Membership
John Grohol reported that we collect data from members  regarding where they first heard of SPM and why they joined, which might help guide us in member retention.

A Wireside Chat will be held Thursday, November 19 at 4 pm on Google Hang-Outs This will be a real-time Q&A between members and the Leadership on issues relevant to the Society.

Learning Exchange
Sarah Krug proposed that we use the next Executive Committee Call on December 15 for the pilot run of the Learning Exchange.

The Journal of Participatory Medicine

We discussed how we can provide proper support for the Journal and encourage our members to review and write articles.  We also need a more aggressive strategy to promote the Journal and specific articles.  Peggy will speak with Terry and Joe Graedon to get a better idea of their needs and report back to the Executive Committee.
