Dear Friends,

It’s an important time for Participatory Medicine and for the Society.  We would like to ask you to help us boost our membership roles by asking two of your colleagues to join the Society this year for a low membership fee of $30.00.

As you know, the Society for Participatory Medicine is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization devoted  participatory medicine, a movement where patients and providers work together collaboratively and shift patients from being mere passengers to responsible drivers of their health. This involves transparency of health information, open communication, shared decision-making, mutual respect, and engagement by all stakeholders.

Our members represent stakeholders across the continuum of health care, including patients, patient advocates, caregivers, health care professional, entrepreneurs, consultants, health policy experts, and other leaders in various aspects of the health care industry. Now more than ever we need to grow the Society to increase our voice and transform our health care system.

  • Community/Conversation: We have an active online discussion forum and in-person meetings for sharing ideas and we stimulate discussion through posts on our widely-read blog.
  • Advocacy: We advocate for health policies that have an impact on the practice of participatory medicine and will increasingly proactive in our effort.
  • Research: We publish research in our peer-reviewed Journal of Participatory Medicine and we are starting an online research library in collaboration with Weill-Cornell Medical College.
  • Education: We wish to educate both healthcare professionals and patients/caregivers in participatory medicine and ways to foster collaborative interactions.

Please join the Society! For a very modest membership fee, our members can support this exciting movement and:

  • Participate in our online communities
  • Access to our online resources
  • Contribute to our blog
  • Receive our S4PM newsletter
  • Read the Journal of Participatory Medicine
  • Participate in our Learning Exchange webinars (starting soon)
  • Attend our Sips with the Society receptions
  • Help us, a volunteer organization, to move the ball forward through efforts in education, communication, advocacy, resource development, and fundraising.

We’re asking all current members to recruit at least two new members. Society membership will make a great Holiday Gift for family, friends, and colleagues.  The Membership Committee will be providing additional information to assist in your member recruitment success.

Please join us and help make healthcare more participatory!

Everyone Have a Great Holiday Season.
