JMIR Publications and the Society for Participatory Medicine are excited to announce Dr. Amy Price as the new editor-in-chief of the Journal of Participatory Medicine effective November 1, 2024. Dr. Priceโs leadership will advance the journalโs mission to foster meaningful coproduction in research, education, and health care delivery through empowering technologies and citizen science initiatives.
Dr. Price completed a doctorate in evidence-based health care from the University of Oxford. She is an experienced researcher, editor, and educator with expertise in research methods, health communication, coproduction, and participatory medicine. Since 2014, she has championed high standards in health research and guideline development, and her work emphasizes mentorship, cultivating the next generation of participatory health researchers.
As editor-in-chief, Dr. Price will guide the Journal of Participatory Medicine in leading innovation through coproduction, participatory design in health care, self-management technologies, and patient-researcher-clinician partnerships. Publications will also address policy initiatives, governance frameworks for equitable health care, the role of artificial intelligence (AI), online security, and digital infrastructure in democratizing access to health resources.
Dr. Price envisions the Journal of Participatory Medicine as a catalyst for evidence-based, inclusive health care solutions. She invites researchers, clinicians, technologists, policymakers, patients, and caregivers to share transformative work that enhances health care equity and shapes the future of participatory medicine.
The Journal of Participatory Medicine is a leading peer-reviewed journal, indexed in major databases, including Sherpa Romeo, DOAJ, PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, and EBSCO. We publish original research, reviews, case studies, and perspectives that advance coproduction, patient-clinician-researcher partnerships, and participatory design in health care, including contributions from patients and caregivers.
We look forward to working with Dr. Amy Price and welcome her to the journalโs editorial board.

About:
About the Society for Participatory Medicine The Society for Participatory Medicine, a 501(c)(3) non-profit membership organization, was founded in 2009 to promote participatory medicine, a movement in which networked patients shift from being mere passengers to responsible drivers of their health, and in which providers encourage and value them as full partners. Participatory medicine is an ethical approach to care that also holds promise to improve outcomes, reduce medical errors, increase patient satisfaction, and improve the cost of care.
