Discussed the opportunity for a partnership with The Education Center for Primary Care at Harvard Medical School to develop modules for physician education on patient engagement.

Joe and Danny also met recently with an executive from General Electric Healthcare Division to discuss developing a patient education curriculum to teach employees at GE how to become engaged patients.

Finance Update John Grohol

We have added approximately 20 individual members this year and several prospects for corporate sponsors. We need to develop guidelines on membership/sponsorship retention and guidelines about our involvement with Pharma companies.

Officer and board nominations/elections, Danny

Still working on finalizing the candidates for president elect and members-at-large

Journal for Participatory Medicine

We set the date of March 1, 2017, to terminate position of Journal editorial assistant and will replace her with several volunteer editorial assistants. Several members have expressed interest volunteering as editorial assistants. The Journal currently has several article submissions but continues to have a problem finding reviewers. Interested members should contact the Journal editors if they are interested in serving as reviewers. We are continuing our discussions with the JMIR organization.

Speaking and Serving on committees on behalf of SPM

We discussed the need for a policy of vetting individuals who are empowered to officially represent SPM on boards, commissions and other organizations and individuals who are officially authorized to speak on behalf of the Society at meetings, conferences, and other venues. We agreed that we encourage all members to indicate they are members of SPM and to use the SPM logo in presentations, publications and other documents.

Next meeting is a full board meeting on January 10. 2017
