Annual Founders Meeting

Joe Graedon reported on ideas that emerged from the Annual Founders Meeting held in February including the merging all of our web sites (JOPM, e-patients.net, SPM) into one umbrella site.  He emphasized the need for more participation in the JOPM from the members, particularly for reviewers and authors of articles on the patient experience.

National Opinion survey on data sharing among physicians, Danny Sands

This survey, co-sponsored by SPM and ORC International confirmed that the vast majority of healthcare consumers believe that their health information should be easily shared among their various physicians.  The survey was based on telephone interviews with 1,011 adults living in the Continental U.S. The results of the survey have been widely distributed in the press and on social media, including an infographic which appeared on the Jumbotron in Times Square, New York. The Board discussed ways to leverage this publicity to attain more visibility for SPM.

Member Survey and Interviews on Participatory Medicine, Nick Dawson

The Purpose of the member survey and interviews is to collect data that will to provide a snapshot in time of our members “Voices” on participatory medicine. From our total membership of over 400 we had over 50% participate in  the survey. We are combining the survey responses with a series of random interviews of members to produce a short document on member’s views on participatory medicine.
