Committee Reports

Internal Communication

Committee has forged ahead and now has 9 members who are actively working to strengthen internal communication based on their newly developed charter:

To develop and maintain a bi-directional flow of information between the members of the organization and leadership regarding key initiatives, policies and program.

To promote an interactive discussion among our members.

Working on the premise that no one tool is adequate for internal communication and we need to promote many ways for our members to interact.

To that end the committee, led by Jon Lebkowsky, has launched an S4PM Facebook page which is strictly for our members and has had a positive reception from many members who are engaging with each other and having lively discussions.

The committee is evaluating the role of the listserv going forward and is working on the development of a bi-weekly newsletter.

Development Committee: Financial Issues and Funding Priorities:

We discussed how we can put together a strong workgroup to generate additional revenue including:

1. Aggressive drive to involve more corporations in our organization;
2. Development of a product that could generate revenue such as a CME course on participatory medicine.
3. Create a list of anchor organization from Pharma, Payer, and Provider; identify top three candidates and approach them with our value proposition that is in synch with their goals and objectives

Also discussed developing a strategy for Board giving, perhaps with a challenge grant from a healthcare institution.

Value Proposition Committee

Discussed the need for specific value propositions that meet the needs of specific audiences that we want to attract including: Patients, Providers, Payers, Corporate Sponsors, and Pharma.  We need full member involvement in this effort.

Alliances with Major Conference Sponsors

We discussed partnerships with various conference sponsors and the logistics of why this is important and what commitments and work is needed from our members to execute these agreements.

Additional issues

Student Intern

SPM member and professor at Tufts Medical School Lisa Gualtieri has indicated that she may have a student intern who could work with us on branding and visibility. We also discussed the need for an intern who could help us develop our social media presence.

Executive Committee Elections

We are seeking nominations for candidates to run for the following positions on the Executive Committee: President Elect, Treasurer, and two members-at-large.  The election will be held in September.

The next Board Meeting is on August 11.
