Healthcare IT News posted a detailed story about how the Cleveland Clinic plans to roll out its new MyChart EMR to give patients complete access to their health records by the end of 2013.
According to the article, the Cleveland Clinic believes this move is “the right thing to do because it will give patients a more complete picture of their health and empower them to make better, smarter and more economical decisions about their care.” E-Patients.net could not agree more.

Importantly, this DOES include physician notes.
It’s important because typically MyChart only shows prettied-up subsets of selected information. Hooray for sharing everything!
It is so refreshing to hear that other drs & facilities are beginning to adopt this practice. My husband has provided military health coverage for almost 20 yrs & they enforce this practice (even when they get all the “real information” from another dr or specialist), so all you have to do is go to the Medical Records window & no matter how big your record is, they’ll make copies of EVERY page or whatever select information you need or want!! :-) Way to go Cleveland Clinic
