Last week we posted a request from Dr. Bertalan Meskó for video messages from e-patients to his “Medicine 2.0” course. Here’s my submission. (This is my first “vlog” (video blog) so the quality’s not great – like everything “e,” it’ll improve with experience.)
He’ll welcome further submissions for viewing anytime. Post them to YouTube with the tag “med20course”. (That’s a zero after the 2.)
Please consider supporting the Society by joining us today! Thank you.
Yay Dave!
It’s a great video – to the point, with excellent illustrations :)
I love that you open with the “e-patients are not physicians” point – there is yet another “OMG, the Internet!!” article being forwarded around:
Untangling the Web — Patients, Doctors, and the Internet
Pamela Hartzband, M.D., and Jerome Groopman, M.D.
http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/362/12/1063
Everyone, please read the full article and then comment, but here’s the closing line: “The doctor, in our view, will never be optional.” All signs (including Pew Internet’s survey research) points to that being the overwhelming sentiment among consumers, too!
Kudos on the video, Dave, and kudos to @Berci for requesting such input.
Thanks Dave, Great job! Keep up the good work and let us know how we can help spread the word. Jonena.Relth@tbdconsulting.com
